This project is a joint initiative between Hinchinbrook Shire Council and the Queensland Government.
Council, together with the support of the Queensland Government, has recently completed the flood conveyance works between Herbert and Eleanor Streets. This project involved the clearing and removal of dense vegetation and fill material either side of the Queensland Rail bridge adjacent to Eleanor Street, with the intention to improve water conveyance through the Palm Creek passage within the Ingham township.
The project was estimated to cost $550,000, with 50% of the estimated cost funded by Council and 50% funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, under the Natural Disaster Resilience Program, which aims to reduce community vulnerability to natural hazards and build resilience.
