Click here to find out moreThe Hinchinbrook Shire Council is committed to reducing waste going to our landfill. Council is therefore shifting focus from seeing waste as simply 'waste', to treating waste as a potential resource which needs to be recovered and recycled.
There are three key issues that Council is working to address within the local waste space:
- The space available within our landfill is rapidly decreasing;
- Many household recycling bins are heavily contaminated; and
- Valuable recyclable resources are being lost through the kerbside collection and commercial waste streams.
