Youth Development Advisory Committee

The Hinchinbrook Youth Development Advisory Committee has been established to provide advice and recommendations to Council regarding development and subsequent delivery about how to make Hinchinbrook Shire a Youth friendly place to live.

Formal requirements for Council to engage with the community in relation to Youth services is not legislated, however, establishment of a Youth Development Advisory Committee facilitates communication by providing an important platform whereby key issues can be identified. Council will be well informed about effective youth policy and youth service provision across the Hinchinbrook Shire.

The Advisory Committee does not replace other forms of community engagement used by Council instead, complementing and enhancing the collaborative process.

Council’s objective is to facilitate a youth friendly community with all reasonably available and relevant needs and services catered for, thereby ensuring youth remain central to the provision and establishment of a well serviced community, truly reflecting community aspirations.

Attracting and accommodating the needs and aspirations of families and younger populations through provision of diverse employment opportunities, economic benefits and enhanced lifestyle outcomes forms the catalyst for more vibrant and widespread regional growth and development.

The Youth Development Advisory Committee is a non-constituted committee of Council with a Councillor/s being nominated through the biennial statutory appointment process.
