The Hinchinbrook Shire Council Corporate Plan is a strategic document that sets the direction for Council for a five-year period. It is one of the most significant planning documents adopted by Council and is the means by which Council delivers on its mission to continue to build on the foundations of our region.
Through the corporate planning process Council seeks to:
At its General Meeting on 26 November 2019, Council resolved to amend the current 2014-2019 Corporate Plan under Section 165(3) of the Local Government Regulation to extend its period of coverage and any other necessary consequential amendments of a minor nature from 31 December 2019 to 31 December 2020.
Due to the next Quadrennial Election being held on 28 March 2020, Council resolved to extend the current 2014-2019 Corporate Plan until a date after the swearing in of the new Council in 2020. This extension will allow the new Council to formally consult with the community and prepare and adopt a new 2021-2025 Corporate Plan after being elected in March/April 2020 through until 31 December 2020.
Essentially the extension of the life of the existing Corporate Plan by a maximum of 12 months establishes:
a) Respective new Councillors to have input into the direction of Council’s Corporate Plan in the first year of service; and
b) Adjust the rotation of the Corporate Plan to cycle appropriately in association with Council Elections.
