The first Hinchinbrook Shire Australia Day Awards were presented in 1988 during Council's Bicentennial Celebrations. Australia Day celebrations are held in Ingham on 26 January each year to recognise members of Hinchinbrook who have made an outstanding contribution to the community, and for exceptional achievement in many areas.
