A number of flood cameras have been installed across the Hinchinbrook district to allow the community to check creek and river levels and better prepare and plan their response to flooding.
This project is supporting recovery following the 2019 North and Far North Queensland Monsoon Trough disaster event and is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Flood cameras under this project are installed at the following locations:
Council plans to install additional cameras across the district as resources allow, in locations that are known for inundation during heavy rainfall or flooding events.
Images from flood camera feeds are available via Council’s Disaster Dashboard at disaster.hinchinbrook.qld.gov.au.
The cameras operate on a 24-hour basis and images are updated approximately every 30 minutes.
Please note – night vision is not available and as such, the quality of the image during night hours may change due to lighting restrictions.
