North Queensland Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2020-2030
‘Waste is a concept just as much as it is an end-of-life material to be Removed and Disposed!’
Northern Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (NQROC) request your feedback on the North Queensland Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2020-2030. The Strategy will assist in determining the waste priorities for North Queensland over the next ten years.
The Strategy has been developed by NQROC representing Burdekin Shire Council, Charters Towers Regional Council, Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council and Townsville City Council.
NQROC is committed to the sustainable management of waste and resource recovery and in a combined regional Council approach spanning 80,036Km² with a population reach. Of 240,000 people that handle waste in some form or manner throughout our day – the Strategy is an important document for all of North Queensland.
A region-wide focus allowed the opportunity to develop this key Strategy that is more beneficial than a one Council approach. The work in partnership Strategy supports the development of a circular economy that creates jobs, reduces pressure on landfill and the environment, and works towards the Queensland Government’s 2050 waste targets.
The consultation period closes Friday, 18 September 2020, so follow the link to Townsville City Council's website to have your say.
NQROC thanks you all for your valuable support throughout these important times and please pass this email through your respective networks so we can share for greater awareness.
