Improved Boat Launching Facilities at Forrest Beach Survey

21st March 2018

The Forrest Beach Recreational Boating & Tourism Committee (FBRBATC) have published the Improved Boat Launching Facilities at Forrest Beach Survey as part of a community consultation process. They have provided the following information in relation to the survey.

Forrest Beach is one of the best ocean-front areas in Queensland, with pristine, white sand beaches and magnificent island views. The Forrest Beach Recreational Boating & Tourism Committee (FBRBATC) believes that an all-weather, all-tide boat ramp and jetty will make Forrest Beach safer and more accessible for boating and fishing, and more enjoyable for locals and visitors alike.

The Committee's Proposed Model allows for:

  • Boat launching at lowest tide of the year (half a metre of water)
  •  Maximum protection provided by a wave calming structure
  • Fishing at any time of the day or night
  • Improved access for Coast Guard and other Emergency Services
  • Opportunities for local tourism operators and service providers (health, construction, education etc) with access at all times to Palm Island Group, Yanks Jetty and reef
  • Increased opportunities for local businesses as the shire experiences an increase in visitor stay and spend
  • Increased property worth and economic stimulus
  • Attraction of entrepreneurs to the area

One of the requirements for the project to proceed was a Sand Survey of the Forrest Beach foreshore. This survey has been completed and the next step in the process is Public Consultation; hence this synopsis and the below questionnaire. Once responses have been collated we can move forward and establish costing for the project and source funding opportunities.

The survey can either be completed online by following the link below or by downloading and returning the Improved Boat Launching Facilities at Forrest Beach Survey to the Committee.
