15th March 2024

The Hinchinbrook Shire Council invites local sporting clubs, mental health organisations, community groups, healthcare providers and organisations, and enthusiastic stallholders to participate actively in the upcoming ‘Get Out, Get Active, and Connect’ event being held at the Ingham Showgrounds on Saturday 20 April 2024.

This community-focused event aims to promote an active lifestyle, mental health and well-being, and community connectivity within the Hinchinbrook Shire. The organising committee is reaching out to local entities and individuals to join in and make this day a memorable and impactful experience for all attendees.

 Event highlights will be:

  • Special guest speaker Greg Inglis, former Rugby League player and mental health advocate;
  • Minty from Triple M to be MC and host, ensuring a lively and entertaining atmosphere;
  • Free rides, activities, and face painting for children; and
  • Various food and beverage options will be available for purchase.

 The organising committee encourages the following entities to nominate and actively contribute to the success of the event:

  • Sporting Clubs - Showcase your sport through interactive demonstrations. Engage attendees with 'come and try' workshops, allowing participants to experience the excitement firsthand;
  • Mental Health Organisations - Host workshops, demonstrations, or informational sessions to promote mental health and well-being and share your expertise and support;
  • Community Groups - Set up interactive booths, games, or activities that align with your group's focus to foster community engagement and connect with local residents;
  • Health Organisations - Contribute to the community's well-being by providing valuable insights and services, or by offering health checks, screenings, or informative displays;
  • Fitness Organisations - Showcase fitness programs, host workout sessions, or provide health and fitness information to encourage an active lifestyle;
  • Stallholders - Entrepreneurs, artisans, and local businesses are invited to participate. Design your stall to encourage participation, spark conversations, and create a vibrant atmosphere; and
  • Not-for-Profit Groups - Share information about your organisation's mission, services, and opportunities for involvement to promote your cause and engage with the community.

To participate in this community-driven event, interested parties must submit their nominations to Council by Friday 22 March 2024. To nominate or for further information, please contact Council's Event Team at events@hinchinbrook.qld.gov.au, or call 4776 4600.

Proudly Supported by the Queensland Government, Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Powerlink Queensland and Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce.
