The Awards, this year hosted by the Hinchinbrook Shire Council, are an opportunity to recognise the achievements of outstanding North Queensland Athletes across all sports and is not only the ultimate recognition for all North Queensland Athletes, but a true celebration of sport across North Queensland.
Hinchinbrook Shire Council would like to congratulate all North Queensland Sportstar Nominees for 2019. The following people have been selected to represent Hinchinbrook at the Awards on 2 November 2019.
Junior Nominee – Alana Romano: nominated for her achievements in Cricket, Athletics, Squash, Netball, Swimming, Rugby League, Rugby Union.
Senior Nominee – Michael Skipper: nominated for his achievements in Rugby League.
Service to Sport Nominee – Joseph Pennisi: nominated for his service to Rugby League.
Athlete with a Disability Nominee – Luke Rosardi: nominated for his achievements in Drag Racing.
Councillor Andrew Cripps said that the Hinchinbrook Shire was proud to be home to such great local sporting legends.
“Sport is very much a way of life for many people in the Hinchinbrook Shire and it is great to see such high calibre nominees representing our district, I wish you all the best of luck”.
The guest speaker for the 2019 North Queensland Sportstar Awards is Mark Knowles OAM. Celebrated for his extensive hockey career, Mr Knowles has played over 324 games for Australia including Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Cups.
