Council will proceed with the installation of new playground equipment to the value of $20,000 at Progress Park, Taylors Beach. Works will be undertaken in partnership with the Taylors Beach Progress Association whom will assist with the expertise, skills, machinery and labour on the project.

Warrens Hill Area Water Main Extension

Following requests from many landholders in the area, Council has resolved to investigate the feasibility and costings for the provision of mains water to Warrens Hill, Danger Camp Road , Roberts and Scarrones Road areas. Similar investigation is currently being undertaken for the Orient Road area.

Diversifying Our District – Industrial Hemp

Council will be hosting an information session on the growing of Industrial Hemp in the Herbert River District.

A study recently undertaken by Council into suitable alternate crops that could be grown as part of the District Diversification Program indicated that Hemp for fibre, and a significant number of other emerging uses, would be an innovative crop potentially suitable for rotational cropping in sugar cane fallow.

The information session to be held at the Ingham Bowls Club on Tuesday 8 October 2019 will also provide insight into the developing Australian Hemp Industry and licensing details that remain in force in Queensland.

Road Safety

As we approach another busy long weekend on Queensland roads, I would like to remind all motorists to be extra vigilant when travelling throughout the region. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and together we must strive towards safer roads, for the benefit of our community and all road users in general.
