Hinchinbrook Shire Council is pleased to invite farmers, support industries and agricultural investors to an industry presentation on an opportunity for development of an Australian Industrial Hemp Industry in the Herbert.
Hear from Shane Garozzo of SativAus Group and Tony Eyres of Rounding Up on how AgriFutures is seeding the future of Industrial Hemp – an ancient crop earmarked as having potential to exceed A$10 million in value as an emerging food and fibre industry in Australia by 2025. The economic footprint of the hemp industry in the United States is already on track to exceed US$1 billion before 2025.
Our Hinchinbrook region is considered by SativAus, as a key partner in the national AgriFutures Industrial Hemp Project, to have potential as a superior growing area for the crop in Australia.
The emphasis of the AgriFutures Industrial Hemp Project is on the development of a National Cultivar Trial Scheme to facilitate growth in volume and value of Australian Industrial Hemp. The project will also explore opportunities to exploit food, fibre, biofuels and extraction of chemical components from this unique crop.
