Council facilities, including the Hinchinbrook Aquatic Centre and Hinchinbrook Library will reopen to the public next week in accordance with stage one of relaxations on restrictions under the Queensland State Government COVIDSafe three step road map.
“Council is pleased to be able to reopen facilities in accordance with directions from Queensland Health but strict social distancing and hygiene practice standards will remain in place and be vigilantly monitored” said Mayor Jayo.
Council parks including playground areas and skate park reopen this Saturday 16 May, 2020 although strict limits of ten users at a time in such areas will continue to apply.
The Hinchinbrook Shire Library located at the TYTO Precinct on McIlwraith Street, Ingham will reopen Monday 18 May 2020 for the purpose of facilitating Library loans and returns only. There will be a limit of five patrons at any one time inside the Library and access to computers/laptops and all other Library programs will remain on hold or be delivered online where possible.
Opening hours for the Hinchinbrook Shire Library, commencing Monday 18 May 2020 will be as follows:
Monday 10.00am – 4.00pm
Tuesday 10.00am – 4.00pm
Wednesday 10.00am – 4.00pm
Thursday 10.00am – 6.00pm
Friday 10.00am – 4.00pm
Saturday 9.00am – 12.00pm
Sunday Closed
The Halifax Sub Branch Library will remain closed until further notice.
The Hinchinbrook Aquatic Centre will also reopen with strict conditions of entry Monday 18 May 2020 as follows:
Monday to Friday Public Swimming 9.00am – 3.30pm
Monday to Friday Squad Swimming 3.30pm – 5.00pm
Saturday and Sunday Public Swimming 10.00am – 2.00pm
“We are expecting that the community will self regulate and continue to observe social distancing and enhanced hygiene practices. Our community has done a great job to date in minimising the impacts of COVID-19 in our region and I encourage you all to keep up the good work so what has been done is not undone,” said Cr Jayo.
