Media Release - 8th Hinchinbrook Birdlife Art Awards Exhibition Opening Night

Council will be hosting the 8^th Hinchinbrook Birdlife Art Awards to celebrate inspire and create awareness of birdlife within the Hinchinbrook region at 6.00pm on Friday 6 October 2023 at the TYTO Regional Art Gallery.

Celebrating the best in current practices across several media, the Awards are an excellent platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their work.

“Come along and see the wonderful birdlife come alive by creative artists showcasing our beautiful Shire displayed in one of the best galleries in North Queensland. Can’t wait to see you there” said Councillor Donna Marbelli.

Eighty-eight pieces will be on display for judging in the following categories:

• Painting (2D) – sponsored by Ingham Mazda;
• Watercolour – sponsored by Paronella Park;
• Mixed Media;
• Digital Art – sponsored by Ingham Real Estate;
• Works on Paper;
• Photography – sponsored by Hinchinbrook Electorate Office;
• Ceramics – sponsored by Frosty Mango; and
• Sculptural Form.

All entries will be automatically entered into the following categories:

• Open Award – sponsored by Powerlink Queensland;
• Local Artist Award (Hinchinbrook Shire residents only) – sponsored by Guido’s Panel and Paint;
• People’s Choice Award – sponsored by Ergon Energy; and
• Youth Award (For artists 18 years and under at the date of opening night) – sponsored by Wilmar Sugar.

The 8th Hinchinbrook Birdlife Art Awards will be on display until 4.00pm Sunday 29 October 2023.
