Hinchinbrook Visitor Information Centre (HVIC) Volunteer, Rini Dallavanzi, has been nominated for an award at the North Queensland Tourism and Events Awards.
Rini is nominated in the Individual Award Category for ‘Outstanding Contribution by a Volunteer’.
This award category aims to recognise exceptional contributions to the Townsville North Queensland tourism industry by an individual.
Rini has been volunteering at the HVIC for 30 years this year, and also celebrated her 90th birthday in May 2023.
Rini has a wealth of knowledge about the Hinchinbrook region and is a passionate ambassador for Hinchinbrook Shire Council.
Her ongoing commitment and enthusiasm towards volunteering has made her a valuable and irreplaceable member of the HVIC team.
The awards take place at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Friday 10 November 2023.
The Maraka festivities on Saturday 28 October 2023 were once again well patronised from the Fence Painting and Tropical Vets Pet Parade on Saturday morning, to the amazing floats in the procession, the fireworks and park activities in Rotary Park on Saturday evening.
Congratulations to Maraka Princess Luciana Briceno and runner up Gypsy Marshall.
Congratulations also to Allanis Melvin crowned 2023 Maraka Queen, and runner up Eliza Carr.
Council hopes all Queen and Princess entrants enjoyed their time and grow from the experience.
Council would like to remind all residents and visitors that from Wednesday 1 November 2023, glass wine and spirit bottles will become eligible for the 10c refund through the Containers for Change program.
With the economic and environmental benefits of this program already flowing to our community, the expansion to include large glass spirit and wine bottles can only be seen as a plus.
