Council is undertaking Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) reconstruction works across the Shire due to Tropical Cyclone Imogen and Associated Low Pressure System 2 - 12 January 2021 and Tropical Cyclone Niran and Associated Low Pressure System, 25 February - 3 March 2021.
Unsealed Road Projects
Council have appointed local contractor Timrith Transport to undertake the unsealed road grading and reconstruction works within the Shire.
The program entails certain sections of the road being formation graded or resheeted with table drains cleared and reinstated. This work will require single lane road closures at certain times throughout the project.
As per the Queensland Reconstruction Authorities Treatment Guide, gravel resheeting is completed as per the image below:
Sealed Road Project
Council have appointed local contractor Timrith Transport to undertake the sealed road DRFA reconstruction works within the Shire. The works include patch repairs, pavement reconstruction, bitumen spray two coat seal and the reinstatement of line marking where required. This work will require single lane road closures at certain times throughout the project.
Landslip Projects
Council has received funding for two landslip projects. One landslip located on Mount Fox Road and the other on Abergowrie Road. Council has appointed local Contractor Keita Services Pty Ltd to undertake the remedial works for both landslips. Construction works commenced late May 2022 with works anticipated to be completed by mid August 2022. This work will require single lane road closures at certain times throughout the project.
Betterment Projects
Council has been successful under the Queensland Reconstruction Authorities, Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) grant assistance for reconstruction and betterment works following Tropical Cyclone Imogen and Associated Low Pressure System 2 - 12 January 2021.

Covells Road | Chainage 1108 to 1802 (total length 694m length) – Stabilise pavement and seal to a width of 5.5m with a two coat rubber seal. Stabilising will also include cut off walls on both sides. |
Gangemis Road | Chainage 4680 to 5323 (total length 643m length) – Stabilise pavement and seal to a width of 6m with a two coat rubber seal. Stabilising will also include cut off walls on both sides. |
Golloglys Road | Chainage 3420 to 4530 (total length 1110m length) – Stabilise pavement and seal to a width of 5m with a two coat rubber seal. Stabilising will also include cut off walls on both sides. |
Hamleigh Road | Chainage 4050 to 4685 (total length 560m length) – Stabilise pavement and seal to a width of 6m with a two coat rubber seal. Stabilising will also include cut off walls on both sides. |
Orient Road | Chainage 7290 to 8460 (total length 1170m length) - Stabilise pavement and seal to a width of 8m with a two coat rubber seal. Stabilising will also include cut off walls on both sides. |
Quabbas Road | Chainage 5 to 298 (total length 293m length) – Stabilise pavement and seal to a width of 6m with a two coat rubber seal. Stabilising will also include cut off walls on both sides. |
Ongoing works will occur between 6:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday. Possible works may occur Saturday between 7:00am and 5:00pm.
