Situated near the southern end of World Heritage-listed Hinchinbrook Island, the Lucinda jetty is an impressive structure that follows the natural curve of the earth across 5.76 kilometres.
Supported by more than 660 pylons, it transports raw sugar from the mainland to waiting ships, taking around 22 minutes for the journey along its conveyor system. The terminal accommodates large international vessels, with exports reaching destinations such as Canada and Malaysia.
Nearby, a smaller service jetty is popular with land-based anglers chasing species such as Spanish mackerel, giant trevally, queenfish, barramundi golden snapper and northern bluefin tuna.
