Sewerage system maintenance

Regular maintenance and inspection help keep the sewerage system working safely and reliably, protecting public health and the environment. 

How we maintain the system 

To keep the network in good condition, we: 

• Inspect sewer mains and pump stations on a routine basis 

• Use CCTV technology to identify cracks, deterioration and tree root intrusion 

• Clean and flush sewer pipes to prevent blockages  

• Repair, renew and upgrade ageing infrastructure 

Access to private property 

Some maintenance activities may require authorised Council staff or contractors to access parts of the sewerage network located on private property.  

Where possible, we will provide advance notice to affected residents. 

Reporting sewer issue

You can help us respond quickly by reporting any issues you notice, such as: 

• Sewer overflows  

• Strong or unsual odours  

• Slow drainage
