Hinchinbrook Way begins in Ingham and leads you somewhere different.
Set in North Queensland, Hinchinbrook Shire is where wide-open spaces, quiet coastlines, and winding country roads come together. Just over an hour north of Townsville and around three hours south of Cairns, it’s a place to slow down, take your time, and explore beyond the usual stops.

From Ingham, the heart of the region, you can follow the coast to Lucinda, Taylors Beach, and Forrest Beach, or trace the river and farmland through Halifax and Trebonne.

Head inland and the landscape shifts again, with the road winding towards Mount Fox, Abergowrie, and Wallaman Falls, where the space opens up and the pace naturally slows. Along the way, smaller rural and coastal communities sit quietly between destinations, adding to the character of the region and a sense that you’ve discovered somewhere a little less travelled.

Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, heading out on the water, or simply looking for room to breathe, Hinchinbrook Way is about starting in Ingham and seeing where the road takes you next.

Start your journey at the Hinchinbrook Visitor Information Centre located on the Corner of Cooper Street and Bruce Highway, Ingham.

The Hinchinbrook Visitor Information Centre is a fully accredited Information Centre and is your one stop shop for travel information, brochures and maps. Staffed by friendly and knowledgeable locals, pop in and let the team help you to experience the stunning Hinchinbrook region.
