Council is committed to improving road safety outcomes across the Shire through a combination of infrastructure improvements, traffic management, planning, and education. Improving road safety is a shared responsibility between Council, other government agencies and the community. Council works in partnership with a range of organisations to address road safety risks and improve safety outcomes for all road users.

These initiatives aim to reduce crashes, serious injuries and fatalities by addressing high‑risk locations, improving driver awareness and supporting safer travel behaviours.
Hinchinbrook Road Safety Advisory Committee
Council’s road safety activities are guided by strategic planning and community input through the Hinchinbrook Road Safety Advisory Committee (HRSAC).
The committee brings together Council officers, state agencies and community representatives to identify issues, review data and recommend safety improvements.
