If you haven’t been to Hinchinbrook before, think wide open spaces, quiet coastlines, lush rainforest and places that feel undiscovered.
Start in Ingham, the main town and hub of the region, then explore outwards — to fishing villages like Lucinda and Dungeness, relaxed beachside spots like Forrest Beach and Taylors Beach, and historic riverside communities such as Halifax and Trebonne.
Venture a little further and you’ll find some of North Queensland’s most striking natural landscapes from the cool mountain air of Paluma to the rugged views of Mount Fox and the breathtaking drop of Wallaman Falls.
Just offshore, the islands — Hinchinbrook Island, Orpheus Island and Pelorus Island — offer a true escape into nature, while places like Broadwater are the kind you stumble across and wish you’d found sooner.
Everything is closer than you might expect, but still far enough apart to feel like you’ve found your own piece of it.
