Where a private building certifier cannot be engaged, Council can help facilitate building certification services. This page explains when this applies, what costs are involved, and how to request a fee quote.
When is a fee quote needed?
In Hinchinbrook, building certification is normally carried out by private building certifiers.
However, in some cases an applicant may be unable to source a private certifier independently. To ensure access to building assessment services within the local government area, Council may facilitate certification through a contracted third‑party private certifier.

How fees are calculated
Fees for Council‑facilitated building certification services are set out in Council’s Fees and Charges Schedule and are assessed as Price on Application (POA).

Because costs vary depending on the nature and scale of the proposed building work, a formal fee quote must be issued before proceeding.
What happens after you request a quote?
Once Council receives your completed request:

Council seeks a POA estimate from the contracted certifier;

A formal fee quote is prepared; and

The fee quote is issued to you for consideration.
Submitting a request does not commit you to proceeding with certification.
