Road reserve works and other permits
Works carried out within a road reserve often require Council approval to help keep road users safe, protect existing infrastructure and ensure continued access for the community.
A road reserve is public land outside your property boundary and may include areas such as road shoulders, footpaths, nature strips and drainage corridors.

Road work permit
If you are planning to carry out works in a road reserve — such as constructing a driveway, installing fencing, or placing structures or landscaping in front of a property — you may need a Road Work Permit.

Applying for a permit
To apply, complete the Road Work Permit Application Form available below.
If you need more time to complete approved works, you can request an extension by submitting the Request to Withdraw Approval or Extend Approval Period Form.
Gates and grids
Council may approve the installation of a gate or stock grid within a road reserve, subject to conditions set out under Local Laws.
An application must be submitted to Council before any works commence.

Heavy Vehicle Permits (NHVR)
