Public Notice - Unplanned Water Outage, Taylors Beach
Published on 29 January 2026
Taylors Beach Water Update #8 – 4.30PM 31 January 2026
Water supply is being restored to Taylors Beach following repairs to the water main, however it may take some time for water to reach all properties.
Some residents may not see water straight away. Water may appear turbid (cloudy) and pressure may fluctuate as the system continues to recharge. Pressure will ramp up progressively. Once water returns to your property, if you continue to experience issues with water supply or pressure, please contact Council on (07) 4776 4660.
As advised last night, a Boiled Water Alert was issued as a precaution while the system was depressurised and recharged. This alert remains in place until further notice. More info >> BOILED WATER ALERT, TAYLORS BEACH
All residents are required to boil tap water before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or preparing food until Council confirms it is safe to return to normal use.
Council thanks the Taylors Beach community for its patience and cooperation while crews worked through challenging conditions to restore supply. Further updates will be provided once water quality testing is complete and the Boil Water Alert can be lifted.
Taylors Beach Water Update #7 – 3.00PM 31 January 2026
Repairs are now underway after Council crews gained access to the second break in the water main. Once this repair is complete, the line will be recharged to check for any further breaks. If there are no further breaks, water supply can be restored as soon as possible.
A temporary bypass pipeline is not required at this stage; however, Council has procured all necessary materials, and they are on site should it be needed.
Taylors Beach Water Update #6 – 10.12AM 31 January 2026
Council crews have located another break in the water main in the same swampy section of pipeline that was suspected.
The team is now working to organise safe access to the site so repairs can begin. Due to the difficult ground conditions and the need to ensure there are no further breaks along the remaining section of pipe, an estimated time for full restoration cannot yet be provided.
Potable water for essential use and bottled drinking water are available for residents at Progress Park. Please bring your own containers.
Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding while crews continue this challenging work.
Taylors Beach Water Update #5 – 9.20PM 30 January 2026
Council crews have been working in extremely difficult, swampy conditions to restore water to Taylors Beach.
Council crews have located and repaired one broken section of the water main. While recharging the system, the pipeline initially held pressure when supplied by pumps. However, as pressure increased, it did not hold as expected, indicating there may be another break along the water main.
Investigations to date suggest the additional break may be located within a swampy, low-lying area that is currently difficult to access. Poor night-time visibility has further limited crews’ ability to pinpoint the exact location. Crews will return first thing tomorrow to continue working progressively along the pipeline to identify the fault.
As a contingency, a temporary bypass pipeline is being prepared so the damaged section — including the swamp area — can be isolated if required, allowing water supply to be restored as soon as possible. At this stage, an estimated time for full restoration cannot be provided due to the location of the pipe and ongoing ground conditions.
To support the community, Council will arrange another potable water truck tomorrow morning and also deliver bottled water to Taylors Beach residents.
Once water supply is restored, a Boil Water Alert will be in place for Taylors Beach due to the main running through swampy conditions. Residents will be advised when the alert is lifted.
Council thanks residents for their patience and understanding while crews continue this complex and challenging repair.
Taylors Beach Water Update #4 – 3.35PM 30 January 2026
Council crews have located and repaired one water main break and are now progressively investigating the remaining sections of the pipeline toward Taylors Beach.
This staged process will confirm whether there are any additional breaks along the water supply line before the pipeline is brought back into operation.
If this is unsuccessful, crews will install a temporary pipeline to bypass the damaged section and restore water supply to Taylors Beach.
This is a significant and complex process, and it may take some time, so it is difficult to provide an estimated restoration time at this stage.
Please be assured that crews are working around the clock to restore water to Taylors Beach as quickly as possible.
We understand how frustrating this situation is for residents, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience.
In the meantime, a potable water truck and bottled water are available at Progress Park, with supplies to be topped up again this afternoon.
As soon as new information comes to hand, we will update the community.
Taylors Beach Water Update #3 – 10.00AM 30 January 2026
Crews have been on-site since early this morning and have narrowed the issue to a suspected section of pipe located in swampy conditions. High tides have limited access to parts of the area today, slowing investigation efforts. Work will continue on-site as conditions allow.
A portable water truck is available at Progress Park for residents to collect water for essential use. Please bring your own containers.
Council has also arranged bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes, and this will be made available to residents from 11.00am.
Council acknowledges this is not an ideal situation, and resolving the issue will take some time.
A further community update will be provided at 4.00pm this afternoon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as work continues to restore supply.
Taylors Beach Water Update #2 – 10.00PM 29 January 2026
Crews have narrowed the issue to a suspected section of pipe but were unable to locate the exact break tonight. The team will return first thing tomorrow morning. A water truck will be available from around 6.00am at Progress Park for residents to collect water for essential use. Residents will need to bring their own containers. The main runs through swampy terrain, and night-time conditions are limiting further investigation. Council thanks residents for their patience while crews work to locate the fault and restore supply as quickly as possible.
Taylors Beach Water Update #1 – 8.50PM 29 January 2026
Hinchinbrook Shire Council wishes to advise that an unplanned water outage is currently affecting properties in Taylors Beach.
Council crews are investigating a suspected water main break on the main line supplying water to Taylors Beach.
High tide conditions are making access difficult, and crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to locate the issue and restore supply.
Residents may experience low water pressure or no water during this time. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Council thanks residents for their patience.
