CCTV Ingham CBD Project

Total Investment: $400,000

Hinchinbrook Shire Council has successfully delivered a major upgrade to the Ingham CBD CCTV network, enhancing community safety through the installation of high-definition, solar-powered CCTV cameras, a modern video management system, and improved wireless connectivity.

Project overview

The completed program was delivered across four key precincts in Ingham, including the Johnstone Street car park and along Lannercost Street, Cartwright Street and Herbert Street.

Following the award of the tender in March 2026, Council delivered:

  • Upgrades to 10 existing CCTV cameras with modern, high-definition technology.
  • Installation of five new CCTV cameras to increase network coverage and surveillance capabilities.
  • A new video management system to improve monitoring and operational performance.
  • Enhanced wireless connectivity to support the upgraded network.

The project was delivered in consultation with the Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce and Ingham Police Station to ensure the upgraded system meets community and operational needs.

Why these works were needed

The CCTV upgrade strengthens community safety by enhancing surveillance capability, improving incident response, and helping deter criminal and anti-social behaviour within the Ingham CBD.

The project forms part of the Queensland Government's Secure Communities Partnership Program, supporting crime prevention initiatives and helping create safer communities across Queensland.
