MERV WACKER PARK UPGRADE WORKS, UPDATE #2
Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises residents that, as part of the ongoing construction of the new pump track and half basketball court at Merv Wacker Park, Saturday works will commence on Saturday, 7 November 2026.
Construction activities on the corner of Lynch and Cartwright streets may occur between 7:00am and 3:00pm on Saturdays, in addition to the existing weekday construction schedule.
These additional working hours will assist with the timely delivery of the project, which remains on track for completion in December 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.
Council acknowledges community interest regarding the existing trees at Merv Wacker Park and can confirm the established tree line along Lynch Street will be retained as part of the project.
The new pump track and half basketball court are being constructed within the existing open grassed area of the park and will not impact the retained tree line.
Council thanks residents for their patience and understanding while these improvements are delivered for the benefit of the community.
The Works for Queensland Program is proudly funded by the Queensland Government in partnership with Hinchinbrook Shire Council.
