Public Notice - Water Meter Upgrades Commencing Monday 9 March 2026
Published on 09 March 2026
Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that Council and its contractors will begin the next round of water meter upgrades across the district from today, Monday 9 March 2026.
Works are expected to take approximately four weeks, weather permitting.
The project includes the replacement of 517 water meters across the Shire, with works beginning on today 9 March 2026.
Crews will then move to the Braemeadows area, followed by Taylors Beach, Halifax, Bemerside, Macknade and Lucinda. The contractor will then progress to Blackrock, Toobanna, Foresthome and Cordelia, before finishing in the Ingham area.
During the upgrade process, some properties may experience a very brief interruption to water supply, usually lasting only a couple of minutes. No action is required by residents. However, once supply is restored, you may wish to briefly run your taps to flush the line and clear any air pockets.
Residents are asked to ensure dogs are restrained while crews are working in their area.
If contractors are unable to access certain properties, Council will contact residents to arrange a suitable time at a later date to ensure all works are completed.
Council thanks residents for their patience and cooperation while these essential upgrades are carried out. Updates will be provided as works progress.
