Public Notice - Water Meter Readings Underway
Published on 01 December 2025
Hinchinbrook Shire Council’s six-monthly water meter reading program is now underway at properties across the Hinchinbrook region to measure household water consumption for upcoming notices.
To ensure charges are accurate, efficient, and reliable, water meter readings will continue until Thursday 19 December 2025, weather permitting.
While most readings are automated, Council crews will be out conducting manual checks on some meters. Manual checks are carried out on any readings that appear unusual compared to the last three billing periods, such as significantly higher or lower consumption.
The next lot of notices are scheduled to be sent to ratepayers early in the new year.
Ratepayers and tenants are asked to ensure water meters are clear from obstruction to allow access for staff.
All Council staff will carry official identification while performing this work.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Hinchinbrook H2O, a free water consumption monitoring tool. Email and SMS alerts can be set to notify residents of water leaks and high consumption within days of occurrence. Visit Hinchinbrook H2O for more details.
For further information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on (07) 4776 4600.
