Hinchinbrook Shire Council would like to advise the community that a contractor will undertake inspections of the Council water supply network to identify and locate leaks.

The program will begin Friday 11 September 2026 and continue until Friday 18 September 2026 in Ingham, Trebonne, Blackrock, Toobanna, Halifax, Macknade, Lucinda, Taylors Beach and Forrest Beach.

By identifying and repairing leaks, Council can save thousands of litres of water, improve network efficiency and contribute to the long-term resilience of our community.

Specialist technicians will use advanced acoustic technology attached to the water supply network to detect the unique sound signals created when water escapes from pipes under pressure.

These locations can then be accurately identified and reported to Council for repair.

Residents may notice technicians working throughout the water network during this period. Please note:

  • Inspections will be undertaken on Council land and within the water supply network.
  • Access to private properties will not be required.
  • There will be no interruption to normal water services as a result of the inspections.

Council appreciates the community's cooperation while this important work is undertaken to help improve the reliability and efficiency of our water infrastructure.

This project has been funded through the FNQROC Water Leak Detection Project as part of regional drought resilience and preparedness initiatives.
