Public Notice - Temporary Closure, Tyto Precinct Car Park, Ingham

Hinchinbrook Shire Council wishes to advise residents and visitors that the car park at the TYTO Precinct which provides close access to the Hinchinbrook Shire Library and TYTO Regional Art Gallery will be closed: 

Monday 1 December 2025 to Tuesday 16 December 2025.

Alternative parking at the TYTO Precinct can be accessed through Macrossan Avenue.

The temporary closure is necessary to allow for the painting application of reflective roofing on the library and gallery buildings.

This passive cooling measure enhances UV resistance and reduces roof surface temperatures.

By doing so, it helps lower internal building temperatures, improve overall energy efficiency, boost the performance of renewable energy systems, and reduce both emissions and urban heat.

This reflective roof paint will also be applied at Council’s Martin Street Depot from Monday 24 November to Tuesday 16 December 2025.

Hinchinbrook is one of 20 councils between Cape York and Bundaberg that are signatories to the Reef Guardian Council Program, which covers 317,000 sq km and a population of one million people.

This program is a partnership between local governments and the Australian Government’s Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority which recognises community collaboration is central to better managing the Reef and surrounding regions.
