Hinchinbrook Shire Council is progressing a significant program of sealed road remediation works across the Shire following damage sustained during the February 2025 flood event.

The project includes remediation works on 89 sealed roads throughout the Hinchinbrook region, helping to restore affected road infrastructure and improve access for residents, businesses and visitors.

Works are expected to start Wednesday 26 August 2026 and be completed by May 2027, subject to weather conditions, site accessibility, contractor availability and material supply.

The remediation works will include repairs to flood-affected sealed road surfaces and associated infrastructure, restoring the network to an appropriate service standard.

Motorists may experience temporary traffic changes, reduced speed limits, minor delays or intermittent lane closures while works are undertaken.

Council encourages road users to observe all traffic management signage and exercise caution when travelling through work zones.

Council will continue to provide updates throughout the project and advises that works schedules may change due to weather or operational requirements.

Council thanks residents and road users for their patience and understanding while these important works are completed.

This project is proudly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) in association with Hinchinbrook Shire Council.
