Public Notice - Removal of Rain Trees, Ingham Showgrounds

Hinchinbrook Shire Council would like to update the community on the removal of four old rain trees at the Ingham Showgrounds.

These trees, believed to be over 100 years old, have been a valued part of the area. Council understands their significance and has taken this decision with care and consideration.

Why the trees are being removed:

  • The trees near the dog arena posed a safety risk due to falling branches.
  • The trees near the tennis courts are being removed to provide ongoing safe usage of the showgrounds and proposed future works in the area.

Current status of works:

  • Dog Arena Trees: The two trees near the dog arena have been removed. Stump grinding is currently underway and expected to be completed today.
  • Tennis Court Trees: Both trees near the tennis courts have been cut down. One stump has been removed, and root removal is in progress today. The second stump and roots will be removed next week.

Council remains committed to keeping the Showgrounds safe and accessible for everyone.
