Public Notice - New drop-off locations, Warrens Hill Landfill and Reso
Published on 29 May 2026
Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that customers disposing of green waste, concrete and mattresses will notice a change to designated drop-off areas.
Due to the development of the new waste cell, a new disposal area has been established at the rear of the Warrens Hill Landfill site. Signage is in place to guide customers, and gatehouse staff will be available to assist upon arrival.
Council also reminds residents that there is a temporary suspension on the acceptance of asbestos waste at Warrens Hill Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre.
Visit Public Notice - Temporary suspension of asbestos waste acceptance for more information. Updates will be provided once this service resumes.
Council is progressing the Warrens Hill Landfill Cell 4 upgrade, which will increase future disposal capacity and support long-term waste management planning for the Shire and is expected to be completed by Tuesday 30 June 2026, weather permitting.
Visit Warrens Hill Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre Works for more information on this project.
Council appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during these changes and apologises for any inconvenience.
