Public Notice - Mount Fox Road Update #1
Published on 11 August 2025
Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that the sealed pavement reconstruction works will begin on Mount Fox Road from Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
These works will include pothole patching and minor sealed pavement reinstatement, with traffic control in place as required to ensure the safety of both the public and workers.
This stage of the project is expected to take approximately 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Motorists are reminded to adjust their driving to suit road conditions and comply with traffic management.
In addition, Council is progressing with the planning and delivery of further works, including landslip repairs and more than $3 million in upgrades of the Mount Fox range for drainage improvements and minor road widening.
Subject to tender processes and weather conditions, these works are anticipated to commence prior to Christmas 2025.
Council will continue to provide updates to the community and industry stakeholders as roadworks progresses.
These works are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), administered through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
Council acknowledges the inconvenience these works may cause and sincerely thanks the community for its patience and understanding as we work toward delivering long-term improvements to this important transport corridor.
