Impounded animals

We operate an animal pound for lost, wandering or seized animals. 

If your pet has been impounded 

  • Owners generally have three to five working days to reclaim their pet; 

  • Release is subject to compliance with registration and microchipping requirements; and 

  • Fees and charges may apply.

Animals available for rehoming  

Animals not reclaimed by their owners may be made available for adoption after the prescribed holding period.  

How to adopt 

  • Register your interest before noon on the day;  

  • Adoption is subject to Council approval; and 

  • A registration fee must be paid prior to release.
