On behalf of the Hinchinbrook Community, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all delegates visiting the Shire for the Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services Conference (GFRAS) this weekend. The conference being held in Ingham at the TYTO Conference and Events Centre will cover first hand on-farm practices farmers have undertaken to manage reef water quality outcomes and innovation within the sugar cane industry.
Hinchinbrook is very proud to host the GFRAS here this weekend. The conference is a great opportunity for the Shire to showcase our vibrant culture and wealth of natural beauty and resources to the world at large.
Hinchinbrook boasts some of Australia’s finest natural attractions including Australia’s highest sheer drop waterfall – Wallaman Falls, the world’s longest jetty at 5.76 kilometres, TYTO Wetlands, Hinchinbrook Island, access to the Great Barrier Reef and internationally renowned recreational fishing destinations.
Hosting the GFRAS Conference in Hinchinbrook not only promotes our district to the world but also provides many of our local researchers and agronomical service providers exposure to world knowledge and best practice in all rural and agricultural matters. This can only enhance the service and performances of our district.
Can I also please congratulate and thank the members of the APEN-GFRAS Committee and the many organisations and volunteers who have spent several months of hard work in coordinating and fine-tuning this event. It is a significant achievement and their efforts are appreciated by our community.’
