2021-2024 Works for Queensland Program
Hinchinbrook Shire Council has successfully completed seven key infrastructure projects, investing more than $2 million to improve liveability, service reliability, and long-term resilience across the region. These projects were proudly funded through the Queensland Government’s 2021-2024 Works for Queensland program and delivered by Hinchinbrook Shire Council.
Project Highlights:
- Kerb and Channel Renewals along Kehl, Lehane, Row, Druery and Roati Streets
Upgrades included kerb and channel replacements and road widening to improve street aesthetics and reduce long-term maintenance. Roati Street was identified for renewal through asset condition assessments, with further design work informing future reconstruction needs. - Stormwater Renewal, Herbert Street
Stormwater infrastructure was relined to prevent root intrusion and improve flow efficiency, following detailed CCTV investigations. - Sewer Main Relining, Cassady Street and surrounds
As part of Council’s ongoing sewer maintenance program, mains were relined to reduce infiltration and preserve infrastructure integrity. - Water and Telemetry System Upgrade
Council transitioned from analogue to digital telemetry systems, future-proofing water and sewerage monitoring and improving operational reliability. - Sewer Camera Replacement
A new sewer inspection camera was acquired to replace outdated equipment and expand inspection capabilities. - Water Main Extension along Sunnybank Road
This extension has improved water quality and reliability for Forrest Beach residents and supports emergency response efforts.
