Hinchinbrook Shire Council is delivering high-definition, solar-powered CCTV, replacing outdated cameras, implementing a new video management system, and upgrading wireless connectivity.
Project Overview
The program will be delivered across four precincts in Ingham, including the Johnstone Street car park, and along Lannercost Street, Cartwright Street, and Herbert Street.
Council awarded the tender in early March to design, supply, and install a CCTV network for the Ingham CBD. This includes upgrading 10 cameras to increase capacity with new technology and installing five new cameras.
This project also includes consultation with the Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce and the Ingham Police Station.
Why These Works Are Needed
This boost is part of the Crisafulli Government’s Secure Communities Partnership Program to deter crime through a $9.6 million investment in critical prevention measures across the State, helping to make Queensland safer.
Estimated Timeline
- Contract awarded to successful tenderer: Early March 2026
- Inspection/audit of site and existing equipment: Mid to late March 2026
- Project execution (installation, remediation works, connectivity testing): Late March 2026 – mid June 2026
- Practical Completion: 16 June 2026
