The Hinchinbrook Way of life was showcased to over 700 defence force personnel and their families at the annual Townsville ‘Defence Welcome and Information Expo’. The expo, held on 23 February 2019, provided defence force families with an ‘introduction to live in the Townsville Region’.
Deputy Mayor Mary Brown said the Defence Expo was a great way to introduce residents who were new to the region to “The Hinchinbrook Way”.
“The Hinchinbrook Way of life is easily one of the best lifestyles and the Hinchinbrook Shire one of the best holiday locations in the country. Our district is great for families and through expo’s like the Defence Expo we are able to sell that to the world.”
Throughout the expo over 100 welcome bags and 150 Destination Guides were distributed to defence families.
“The majority of visitors to The Hinchinbrook Way stall at the Defence Expo were looking for family friendly activities to do on the weekend. These were people who were looking for an adventure and were interested in activities like fishing, camping and boating,” Cr Brown said.
Defence Force representative, Major Stephen Trewin said that “The feedback we received from those that attended was extremely positive.”
The Hinchinbrook Way will continue to be showcased throughout the year at the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane RV Expos with the number of RV travellers visiting the Shire increasing each year.
