Public Notice - Playground equipment removal and upgrades

2nd September 2025

Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that selected playground equipment will be removed from the following locations as part of ongoing maintenance and renewal works:

  • Fred Heard Park, Halifax – Removal of the climbing cube
  • Borello Park – Removal of the climbing cube
  • Lions Park, Lucinda – Removal of the metal slide and corroded swing (time permitting)

These removals are part of planned upgrades. Replacement equipment has been quoted and ordered; however, delivery may take up to two months, with installation timelines subject to contractor availability.

Please note that playgrounds will remain open during this process. Only individual items of equipment will be temporarily removed until replacements are installed in line with budget allocations.

Playground replacements will form part of Council’s 10-year Asset Renewal Program currently being developed.

In addition, softfall surfacing and other component upgrades will be carried out as needed.

Council appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation during these improvements.

For further information, please contact Council's customer service centre on 4776 4600.
