Invasive Plants and Animals Surveillance Program

14th August 2019

Council will be conducting a Surveillance Program for invasive biosecurity matter within the Hinchinbrook Shire Local Government Area.

The purpose of the program is to confirm the presence, or determine the extent of the presence, of invasive biosecurity matter within the Hinchinbrook Shire Local Government Area.

This program will be focusing on, but will not be limited to, the following species: Pond Apple, Acacia glauca, Thunbergia, Hygrophila, Mikania vine, Singapore Daisy, Feral Pigs, Wild Dogs and Yellow Crazy Ants.

The scope of program is to monitor compliance with Biosecurity Act 2014, to ensure all people who deal with invasive biosecurity matter, or are a carrier, are meeting their obligations as identified in the Hinchinbrook Local Government Area Biosecurity Plan.

The program will commence on 31 August 2019 and will continue to 31 August 2020.

The Hinchinbrook Shire Council Invasive Plants and Animals Program will be available for inspection and/or purchase at the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Office, 25 Lannercost Street, Ingham.

Should you require any further information or clarification concerning this matter, please contact Council’s Pest Management Officer, Matt Buckman on 4776 4607.
