Invasive Plants and Animals Surveillance Program 2020-2022

Council will be conducting an Invasive Plants and Animals Surveillance Program for all land tenures within the Hinchinbrook Local Government area.

The program is designed to confirm the presence or determine the extent of the presence, of invasive biosecurity matters within the Hinchinbrook Shire Local Government area.

This program will be focusing on, but will not be limited to, the following species: Pond Apple, Acacia Glauca, Thunbergia, Hygrophila, Mikania Vine, Singapore Daisy, Feral Pigs, Wild Dogs and Tramp Ants.

The scope of the program is to monitor compliance with the Biosecurity Act 2014, to ensure all people who deal with biosecurity matters, or are the carrier, are meeting their obligations as identified in the Hinchinbrook Local Government Area Biosecurity Plan.

The program will commence on Wednesday 16 September 2020 and end on Thursday 30 September 2022.
