Media Release - Works Underway for Hinchinbrook's New Water Playground

Hinchinbrook Council

18th August 2017

Construction works have begun at the Hinchinbrook Aquatic Centre for the new Wild Wilderness water playground. The water playground designed for children aged one to 10, will feature some of the regions diverse wildlife and reflect a number of our most valued regional attributes such as mangrove channels, wetlands and rainforest.

Hinchinbrook Shire Councillor Maria Bosworth has said, ‘Council acknowledges the State Government for their assistance with this project through the Works for Queensland Fund. Without State Government funding Council would not have been able to bring this project to the community.’

The water playground tendered at $500,000 was awarded to Water Features by Design through the formal tendering process, Cr Bosworth reiterating that ‘the successful water playground design demonstrates exceptional value for money for the community; this project is utilising a number of local contractors and suppliers, and will prove to be an exceptional asset now and into the future for our Shire.’
