Media Release - Opening of Tip Shop at Warrens Hill Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre

At the General Meeting of Council held on Tuesday 26 July 2022, Council resolved to commence operations of a Tip Shop at Warrens Hill Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre.  The Tip Shop opened on Monday 1 August 2022, and as items become available, they will be made accessible for purchase by the public.

“The shop creates a chance for household goods that would normally go to landfill to find a new home and be reused” said Cr Lancini.

“Taking your items to the Tip Shop is free and means fewer quality items end up in landfill” Cr Lancini said.

“Council intends to start small and grow the activity, in other towns Tip Shops are very popular and have seen demand for certain items outstrip supply” Cr Lancini said.

Items for sale may include small motor equipment and parts, bicycle parts, furniture and building equipment.

Residents will be able to leave items suitable for salvage with staff at no cost, subject to the items being fit for resale.

Customers and visitors are advised that site rules apply to Warrens Hill Landfill and Resource Recovery Centre, and these are to be complied with at all times.

In due course, items available for purchase will be listed on Council’s website, Tip Shop page.
