Attention all Hinchinbrook Shire residents, due to the heavy rainfall experienced overnight it is recommended to take precautionary measures to deal with any potential threat.
Residents are encouraged to make relevant preparations in case flooding does eventuate. Being prepared is our best form of defence.
Sand is currently being replenished and will be available at the standard Lower Herbert locations at Carr’s Farm Cordelia and BP Halifax. Delivery of sand for the Ingham township area will be reviewed in conjunction with further forecasts issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).
Hinchinbrook Shire Council advises that the Abergowrie Road at Abergowrie Bridge is currently closed. The Anabranch is currently lapping, and residents intending to travel home should consider organising for immediate departure.
Council is endeavouring to provide warning of imminent closures, however this cannot be guaranteed with the rapid nature of rise and falls occurring and residents are requested to monitor river conditions and consider their leave arrangements closely.
Residents are urged to continue monitoring the BOM website www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings for further weather warnings and updates.
The LDMG will continue to monitor the situation and will issue relevant notices to residents as required.
