Italy’s celebrated Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company (La Scala Ballet) performs for the first time ever in Australia and you can experience the performance via a free simulcast at the Italian Street Fiesta in the heart of Halifax on Saturday 10 November!
Bringing their 110-strong company, including more than 75 dancers to Queensland Performing Arts Centres Lyric Theatre, La Scala Ballet will perform two iconic productions, both much-loved and stunning works of the classical repertoire – Rudolf Nureyev’s festive Don Quixote, and the haunting Giselle.
Deputy Mayor Mary Brown said ‘Hinchinbrook will be one of only ten regional locations that have the opportunity to host the live simulcast of the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company Australian performances.’
‘Local audiences will have the opportunity to witness the breathtaking performances of the La Scala Ballet and listen to the music played by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra live streamed from QPAC whilst staying right here in our beautiful shire,’ Cr Brown said.
The evening’s events will begin at 5.00pm with the live simulcast commencing at 7.00pm. The Halifax community will be showcasing true Italian heritage offering a variety of stalls including Italian Delicatessen, sweets and an Italian BBQ. The Halifax Hotel will be hosting a Beer Garden, Pizzas and an Italian Smorgasbord. Bring a blanket, chairs and some nibbles and set yourself up on a nice patch of grass to enjoy a spectacular performance!
