A new disability lift has been installed at the Hinchinbrook Aquatic Centre’s 25m heated pool. The lift will allow users who have reduced mobility or who use a wheelchair increased access to the pool.
Hinchinbrook Shire Councillor Marc Tack has said ‘The disability lift is a great asset for our community and will have a positive impact on a number of residents and their access to the facility.’
‘Council was determined to find a way to make the aquatic centre facilities more accessible. The lift will enrich users' experiences in several ways through health and fitness, social inclusion and community participation.’
Local physiotherapist Katherine Shepherd of Performance Physio Group Ingham said the disability lift would help clients get back into the pool and rehabilitate after an injury.
Residents who would like to use the lift will need to be trained. For more information please contact Hinchinbrook Aquatic Centre staff on 47766 555 during operating hours.
