Media Release - Council Events on Hold

23rd March 2020

Hinchinbrook Shire Council is implementing measures to slow the spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19 locally, announcing the postponement of several Council events until further notice.

While events have been cancelled or placed on hold, Council’s community and cultural facilities will continue to remain open, with increased cleaning of the public areas being undertaken to minimise the public health risk.

Furthermore, with a view to protecting our staff and the Hinchinbrook community, Council have taken action to implement ways of either limiting public contact, or ensuring appropriate social distancing is in place.

The public is requested to avoid or limit visiting the Council offices, workspaces, and community facilities where at all possible, particularly if feeling unwell or symptomatic. Where visitation to a Council office or community facility is necessary, we ask that the public respect the social distancing guidelines and signage on display.
