Media Release - Bruce Highway Update – Overnight Facility Available

Department of Transport and Main Roads have advised that the Bruce Highway will potentially be closed North of Ingham at Gairloch Washaway within the next few hours.

To assist any motorists or residents that may not be able to travel home safely, Council will open the Ingham Showgrounds Pavilion located on Cooper Street at 6.00pm tonight.

The facility will be manned by Council staff and includes shower and toilet amenities however bedding is not available.

Anyone visiting the facility will be required to sign in due to COVID tracing requirements and follow all COVID distancing, hygiene and cleaning guidelines.

Motorists are reminded that there is water over many roads throughout the district and extensive care should be exercised when driving.
