Four new rain gauges have been installed in the upper area of the Herbert River catchment area.
The rain gauges installed, Upper Poison, Extended Range, Native Wells and Wooroora, will assist in disaster preparedness by gaining a broader understanding of rainfall within the catchment area. It will also record valuable data, which can be used to improve the accuracy of Council’s Flood Model Data from the gauges are available for viewing on BOMs website: http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/flood/cns2ing.shtml
Jointly funded by Hinchinbrook Shire Council and The Department of Local Government, Racing and Multicultural Affairs through the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program (LGGSP). Assistance provided by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) for the installation and commissioning of the gauges.
Thanks should be provided to the land owners who have allowed these gauges to be installed on their property.
